THE LOS ANGELES DERBY DOLLS HOME TEAM SEASON CONTINUES ON
SATURDAY, MAY 19TH THE TOUGH COOKIES TAKE ON THE 2011 CHAMPIONS SIRENS.
Los Angeles - On May 19th, the Los Angeles Derby Dolls will have three-time championship title holders the Tough Cookies skate against the 2011 champs the Sirens. The Tough Cookies winning streak came to a dramatic end last year when the once undefeatable team placed at the bottom of the league rankings. With new members, tough training and a burning desire to win, the scouts have been earning patches to once again reclaim the top spot. The Sirens started the 2012 season with an impressive win, beating the Fight Crew by 143 points, proving that they do not plan on giving up that champs title. Will the Tough Cookies make an arresting impact on the track, or will the ladies in blue leave crumbs on the track and skate away with another win? Let the battle begin!
Join the fun at the Doll Factory, the home of the Derby Dolls located in Historic Filipinotown. The Derby Dolls are also happy to announce that all games for the 2012 season are open to all ages, but please note that all Saturday evening games are “PG-13” rated so parental guidance is suggested. Alcohol sales remain open for 21+ guests who will be issued an alcohol wristband at the door with a valid ID.Small personal cameras (pocket-size, point and shoot only) are now allowed into the Doll Factory, so come and take pictures of your favorite skaters or with them after the bout! Reminder: No photographers are allowed to shoot from the pink track-side walkways at any time. Any large DSLR type cameras that require a camera bag or have interchangeable lenses are strictly prohibited for personal fan use and will be turned away. All professional cameras and equipment will remain for press outlets only.
L.A. Derby Dolls events also offer a full range of entertainment off the track in the Vendor Village with live musical entertainment at halftime, vendors selling art, jewelry and clothes; food from Garage Pizza and a variety of other food trucks onsite; and various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage choices. The L.A. Derby Dolls are proud to be sponsored by Jack Daniel’s and Pabst Blue Ribbon. JD ready-to-drink bottles, along with PBR beer and various wines will be served up by Alex’s Bar. Stila cosmetics will be at all games treating our fans to complimentary beauty products, and the S-One Helmet Company will be protecting our skaters. We are also very excited to also be sponsored by the DSALA - TwentyWonder fundraising event (http://www.twentywonder.org/) which will be returning to the Doll Factory this summer.

About the L.A. Derby Dolls:
Founded in 2003, the L.A. Derby Dolls (www.derbydolls.com/la) are Southern California’s premiere women’s banked-track, quad-skating, roller derby league. Within the league, four fierce teams battle for dominance: Fight Crew, Sirens, Tough Cookies and Varsity Brawlers. The L.A. Ri-Ettes are L.A. Derby Doll’s all-star team that competes on a national level against the best of the best in the country. While their uniforms may be stylish and their names playful, do not be fooled by appearances – the L.A. Derby Dolls are athletes who skate a sport that is unscripted and real. Honored as a Treasure of Los Angeles by the Central City Association, the L.A. Derby Dolls embody the do-it-yourself, “for the skaters, by the skaters” ethos of modern women’s roller derby.
The L.A. Derby Dolls are one of only thirteen leagues in the U.S. playing roller derby on a banked track. Like most modern female roller derby leagues, the Derby Dolls are volunteer-run and give back to the community that has embraced them. The league also operates the Junior Derby Dolls for girls ages 8-17.
