LOS ANGELES HOME TEAMS SIRENS AND TOUGH COOKIES TAKE TO THE BANK ON OCTOBER 22ND.
LOS ANGELES DERBY DOLLS HOME TEAM FAVORITES FACE-OFF ON THE BANKED TRACK.
Los Angeles – Saturday, October 22nd will see Los Angeles Derby Dolls most notorious rivals skate face to face on the banked track for some intense, nail biting roller derby. There has always been a lot of track tension between three time champions Tough Cookies, who have repeatedly snatched the title from the hard hitting Sirens. However, 2011 has seen a turning of the tables. Will Sirens add another win to their undefeated season record, ensuring their place in this year’s championship game and showing the Tough Cookies they are going all the way? Or will Tough Cookies fight back to keep those cops in cookie custody? Come join us at The Doll Factory, located in historic Filipinotown, for a game that should not be missed!
L.A. Derby Dolls events offer a full range of entertainment off the track, with the Vendor Village featuring art, jewelry and clothes, food from Garage Pizza and a variety of food trucks, and natural energy beverages provided by Ex-Drinks. Tecate beer will be served by Alex’s Bar and The Derby Dolls proudly introduce ready-to-drink Jack Daniel’s bottles as a new sponsor for the 2011 season. Stila cosmetics will be at the games treating our fans to some pampering, as well as additional 2011 season sponsorship from S-One Helmet Company and N101 Nutrition & Health. There will be live musical entertainment at half time and raffle tickets will be sold during the game for a wide selection of prizes.
Tickets are now available to purchase at www.derbydolls.com/la. General admission tickets are $18 when purchased on line and $20 when bought day in cash day of game; VIP tickets are $40.00. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and cash sales close at the end of half time. For those who purchased online tickets, the doors will close at the end of the 3rd quarter. This is a 21 and over event, featuring beer and wine. The Doll Factory is located at 1910 Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90026 (between Alvarado and Union). General parking is available for $8 at Silver Lake Medical Center, 1711 West Temple (near the intersection of Temple and Union), one block east of the Doll Factory. About the L.A. Derby Dolls:
Founded in 2003, the L.A. Derby Dolls (www.derbydolls.com/la) are Southern California’s premiere women’s banked-track, quad-skating, roller derby league. Within the league, five fierce teams battle for dominance: Fight Crew, Sirens, Swarm, Tough Cookies and Varsity Brawlers. While their uniforms may be stylish and their names playful, do not be fooled by appearances – the L.A. Derby Dolls are athletes who skate a sport that is unscripted and real. Honored as a Treasure of Los Angeles by the Central City Association, the L.A. Derby Dolls embody the do-it-yourself, “for the skaters, by the skaters” ethos of modern women’s roller derby.
The L.A. Derby Dolls are one of only thirteen leagues in the U.S. playing roller derby on a banked track. Like most modern female roller derby leagues, the Derby Dolls are volunteer-run and give back to the community that has embraced them. The league also operates the Junior Derby Dolls for girls ages 8-17.
