L.A. DERBY DOLLS BRING MARCH MADNESS TO SOCAL IN ALL-GIRL BANKED TRACK ROLLER DERBY ACTION
Los Angeles – March 12, 2009 – Beware the quads of March when the L.A. Derby Dolls, Southern California’s premiere banked track roller derby league, unleash the Swarm on the 2006 champions Fight Crew on Saturday, March 28 at the Doll Factory (1910 Temple St., 90026). The event will also feature famed Los Angeles actor and singer/bassist of seminal Punk band X, John Doe, as he sings the National Anthem.
"...Specifically, tonight’s delectable matchup between two new(-ish) sides will take place at a Doll Factory laden with octo-themed references to the latest hip new trend. DF, for one, is showing up prepared..."
Long Island Lolita's skates are a blur.
She tears around the banked track and slams full speed into Kiki Diaz, brutally crashing her into the rail. The pack of tattoo-sleeved rollergirls breaks apart suddenly as Tae Kwon Ho quickly weaves through the sea of fishnets scoring a much needed point for the Varisty Brawlers. The crowd cheers, Tecates are raised and spilled; it's just another day for the Los Angeles Derby Dolls. Now in their sixth year of sexy mayhem, the Dolls have gone from a grassroots group skating in the shadow of downtown to a full-blown phenomenon that consistently sells out their Filipinotown-based facility, the Doll Factory.

LOS ANGELES, CA – In the sold-out season opener for the banked-track LA Derby Dolls, it seemed like there would be a reversal of fortune for the 2008 Season Champion Tough Cookies when they squared off against last year’s 0-4 Fight Crew.
The Cookies rose to their 4-1 season record with a year long crushing and organized defense, as league MVP blocker/jammer, the amazonian Krissy Krash, flung the opposition around like a pit bull with a rag doll. But both teams suffered painful line-up losses at the end of last year, the Cookies losing OG LADD skaters Axles of Evil and Lucy Ballbreaker, and one of the league’s top jammers, Laura Palm-her. The Fight Crew suffered personnel problems all year, losing no less than four jammers through the year: Leia Mout, Crystal Deth, Fighty Almighty and OG jammer Jihad.
