LOS ANGELES, CA – In the sold-out season opener for the banked-track LA Derby Dolls, it seemed like there would be a reversal of fortune for the 2008 Season Champion Tough Cookies when they squared off against last year’s 0-4 Fight Crew.
The Cookies rose to their 4-1 season record with a year long crushing and organized defense, as league MVP blocker/jammer, the amazonian Krissy Krash, flung the opposition around like a pit bull with a rag doll. But both teams suffered painful line-up losses at the end of last year, the Cookies losing OG LADD skaters Axles of Evil and Lucy Ballbreaker, and one of the league’s top jammers, Laura Palm-her. The Fight Crew suffered personnel problems all year, losing no less than four jammers through the year: Leia Mout, Crystal Deth, Fighty Almighty and OG jammer Jihad.
