LOS ANGELES TOUGH COOKIES FACE OFF AGAINST ORANGE COUNTY’S OC ROLLERGIRLS AUGUST 20TH

LA’S THREE TIME CHAMPIONS WILL DUKE IT OUT ON THE BANKED TRACK AUGUST 20TH.

Los Angeles – Saturday, August 20th LA Derby Dolls welcome neighboring league, Orange County’s OC Rollergirls.   The OC Rollergirls head north to the Doll Factory to face off against three time champions, the Tough Cookies.  Will the Cookies turn their luck for the 2011 season, or will the newly banked track OC Rollergirls take a win against the reigning champions in this friendly game?  OC Rollergirls roster includes former LA Sirens' co-captain, P.I.T.A along side of former Tough Cookie, the hard-hitting Krissy Krash.  With the return of these past LA Derby Dolls to the Factory, this promises to be an exciting game with a lot of love, sweat and bruises.

L.A. Derby Dolls events offer a full range of entertainment off the track, with the Vendor Village featuring art, jewelry and clothes, food from Garage Pizza and a variety of food trucks, and natural energy beverages provided by Ex-Drinks.  Tecate beer will be served by Alex’s Bar and The Derby Dolls proudly introduce ready-to-drink Jack Daniel’s bottles as a new sponsor for the 2011 season. Stila cosmetics will be at the games treating our fans to some pampering, as well as additional 2011 season sponsorship from S-One Helmet Company and N101 Nutrition & Health. There will be live musical entertainment at half time and raffle tickets will be sold during the game for a wide selection of prizes.

Tickets are now available to purchase at www.derbydolls.com/la.  General admission tickets are $20; VIP tickets are $40.00. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and close at the end of half time.  This is a 21 and over event, featuring beer and wine. The Doll Factory is located at 1910 Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90026 (between Alvarado and Union). General parking is available for $8 at Silver Lake Medical Center, 1711 West Temple (near the intersection of Temple and Union), one block east of the Doll Factory. Please have your ID, leave your cameras/recording devices at home, and note that all concessions and most vendors accept cash only.

About the L.A. Derby Dolls:

Founded in 2003, the L.A. Derby Dolls (www.derbydolls.com/la) are Southern California’s premiere women’s banked-track, quad-skating, roller derby league. Within the league, five fierce teams battle for dominance: Fight Crew, Sirens, Swarm, Tough Cookies and Varsity Brawlers. While their uniforms may be stylish and their names playful, do not be fooled by appearances – the L.A. Derby Dolls are athletes who skate a sport that is unscripted and real. Honored as a Treasure of Los Angeles by the Central City Association, the L.A. Derby Dolls embody the do-it-yourself, “for the skaters, by the skaters” ethos of modern women’s roller derby.

The L.A. Derby Dolls are one of only thirteen leagues in the U.S. playing roller derby on a banked track.  Like most modern female roller derby leagues, the Derby Dolls are volunteer-run and give back to the community that has embraced them. The league also operates the Junior Derby Dolls for girls ages 8-17.
